Self – Soothe Box

When we get a headache we look for the paracetamol. If we get a cut we grab a plaster. If someone falls over and hurts their ankle they might go A&E and if it’s broken, their ankle is put in a cast. But what do we do if we are stressed or anxious or feeling down?

Me – I reach for my self-soothe box.

So what is a “self-soothe box”?

Basically it is just a box with a collection of different bits in that make you smile, make you happy and that help you calm yourself down.

It is sometimes called a mental health first aid kit but I don’t think it sounds as good.

What do you put in a self-soothe box?

There is no right or wrong when it comes to what to put in a self-soothe box, it is completely up to you.

But here are a few ideas;

☆ feathers

☆ a small notebook and pen

☆ photos

☆ fabric scraps

☆ essential oils
